"Ok Mulch Works did a terrific job for us. Very professional. Cleared ~10 acres of thick brush + cleaned up ~1/2 mile worth of overgrown trails. Sent regular update pics. Cleaned up after themselves. Met us at the end of the job to ensure work met expectations before payment. And end price = to the original quote. Would definitely work with them again."

"I recently hired Josh and his crew at Oklahoma Mulch Works to clear invasive cedar and thick brush around the pond at my ranch, and I couldn't be happier with the result. From the start, communication was excellent. They showed up on time, asked thoughtful questions to make sure they understood exactly what I wanted, and then worked a full day until the job was done beyond my expectations. They didn't just clear land — they shaped it. With a great eye for the landscape, they removed the invasive cedar while preserving the beautiful native trees and turning what was unusable ground into a park-like setting. Their knowledge of land-care and conservation sets them apart from other land-clearing companies I have dealt with. On top of that, they were the best bid I received and just genuinely good guys who take a lot of pride in their work. If you need land clearing, cedar removal, or have acreage that you need to be made more beautiful and useful, I highly recommend you reach out to Josh. You will be glad you did!"

Frequently Asked Questions

We price by the project based on acreage, brush density, and terrain. Small projects under 1 acre start at $2,500 (minimum). Typical 4-8 acre projects start around $5,000 and up depending on density and terrain. Large or dense projects (8+ acres or heavy brush) start around $8,000. We'll assess your property and give you a clear quote before any work begins.
Most residential projects (1-3 acres) are completed in a single day. Larger properties or extremely dense brush may take 2-3 days. We'll give you a clear timeline during your quote.
Our equipment handles trees up to 12 inches in diameter. This covers the vast majority of cedar, brush, and small hardwoods. For larger trees, we can coordinate with tree removal services.
No — and that's one of the biggest benefits. The mulch stays on-site, decomposing naturally to protect the soil from erosion, suppress weed growth, and return nutrients to the ground.
No. Eastern Red Cedar does not resprout once cut below the lowest green branch. Mulching grinds it to ground level — it's a one-and-done treatment. Seeds already in the soil may germinate over time, but a follow-up mowing or controlled burn every 2-3 years handles that easily.
Oklahoma landowners may qualify for reimbursement through the Oklahoma Conservation Commission's brush management cost-share program (up to $50,000/year for cedar removal) or the federal NRCS EQIP program. The landowner applies and gets approved — then hires us to do the work. We make sure the job meets the required specs so you get your money back.
We serve the greater Oklahoma City metro area including Edmond, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, Guthrie, El Reno, Shawnee, Stillwater, and surrounding rural areas. We'll travel further for larger projects.
For most clearing jobs, yes. Forestry mulching preserves topsoil, eliminates erosion risk, leaves a natural mulch layer that suppresses regrowth, and doesn't create massive debris piles that need burning or hauling. Bulldozing scrapes the ground, destroys topsoil, creates ruts, and leaves huge debris piles. Mulching costs about the same once you factor in cleanup, but the end result is dramatically better.
Yes. Oklahoma Mulch Works LLC is fully licensed, bonded, and carries $2,000,000 in general liability insurance plus workers' compensation coverage. We're happy to provide a certificate of insurance to any client or builder before work begins.
We work year-round in Oklahoma. Late fall through early spring (October–March) is our busiest season because vegetation is dormant, ground conditions are firmer, and ticks and snakes are inactive. Summer work is possible but we avoid it for dense cedar areas during burn bans. Most landowners book 2-6 weeks out for prime season.
In most cases, no. Private landowners don't need permits for forestry mulching on their own property. If your property is in a floodplain, wetland, or has deed restrictions (HOA or conservation easement), check with your county planning office or HOA first. We can help identify any concerns during your site evaluation.
Absolutely. Selective clearing is one of our specialties. Mark the trees you want preserved (or walk the property with us) and we'll work carefully around them. This is especially popular for hunting properties, ranch landscapes with native oaks, and homesites where you want to keep mature shade trees.
Very little. Our tracked mulcher has a ground pressure lower than a typical pickup truck and spreads its weight across wide rubber tracks. On dry or firm ground, we leave almost no visible impact. On wet ground, tracks may be visible temporarily but self-correct within a season. This is a huge advantage over dozer work which leaves deep ruts.
Our minimum project is $2,500 to cover mobilization, transport, and setup costs. If you have less than an acre to clear, we can still help — we'll just make the most of our day on your property. Many clients use the minimum visit for targeted work: fence lines, brush around structures, or opening up a specific area.
Yes. All quotes are free and come with no obligation. For most properties, we can give a ballpark over the phone after you describe the scope. For a firm project-based quote, we'll visit your property, walk the area with you, and provide a fixed price in writing within 24-48 hours.
We accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and ACH bank transfer. For larger projects, we use a standard 50% deposit / 50% on completion structure. Smaller jobs are paid in full upon completion. We can also work with NRCS and OCC cost-share program payment schedules.
No — just the opposite. By grinding brush and cedar into a natural mulch layer, we protect the soil and give your grass room to thrive. Most pasture reclamation clients see significant grass recovery within one growing season, often producing more forage than before the project.
Yes. We work with builders, developers, utility companies, commercial property managers, and municipalities on lot clearing, right-of-way maintenance, easement clearing, and site preparation. We can provide certificates of insurance, W-9s, and standard commercial invoicing terms.
